Great to be part of a roundtable this morning discussing the future of finance in Canada. Canada is one of the last G7 countries to implement a national stablecoin framework. If we want to keep our financial system globally competitive and protect the sovereignty of the Canadian dollar, we need to let Canadian fintechs and innovators develop the financial technologies of tomorrow instead of holding them back and creating uncertainty. It was a pleasure to speak at the Future of Finance Summit in Toronto about the need for investment, competition and innovation in the financial technology space. Canada needs financial modernization from Real Time Rail to open banking and digital assets to compete globally. Canada must remove barriers and build a framework that capitalizes on Canadian talent and makes us an innovator in financial technology, not a follower. Thank you to all the entrepreneurs, thought leaders and business people working in the digital assets space I met with in Toronto for the great discussions on how Canada can can once again be competitive in digital assets on the world stage. The Liberal government’s inaction and pic.x.com/rKnfTtXkQPvation and modernization in the financial sector has left entrepreneurs and innovators unable to compete. Canada should be a hub for innovation, growth and competition, but the Liberal government needs to get out of the way.
