Nigel Farage has invested in Kwasi Kwarteng’s bitcoin treasury company, in the first public funding of a crypto business by the Reform UK leader who has sought to strengthen ties with the nascent industry.

Nigel Farage has acquired a significant stake in a bitcoin reserve business helmed by Liz Truss’s former chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng.

The Reform UK leader has invested £215,000 in Stack BTC, participating in an equity fundraising that also involved Blockchain.com.

Nigel Farage, leader of the populist Reform UK party, has invested in Stack BTC (STAK.ASE), a London-based company aimed at acquiring small British companies and investing surplus capital ​into bitcoin, a statement said on Monday.

Farage, a public supporter of bitcoin ‌who has secured big donations from crypto investors, has said he expects digital currencies to play a big part in financial markets in the future.

Nigel Farage has pitched himself as the British crypto sector’s saviour, saying “I am your champion”, as the Reform UK leader tries to emulate President Donald Trump in building election support from digital asset investors.

“When it comes to your industry, when it comes to growth in this industry, then I am your champion,” he told the conference on Monday. “We will effectively bring crypto in from the cold.”
