Stand With Crypto Issues Key Vote Alert Ahead of Final Senate Votes on CLARITY Act
3 million crypto advocates strongly urge senators to vote "Yes" to advance the bill; lawmaker scorecards will be updated based on voting records.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Stand With Crypto — America’s leading crypto advocacy organization — issued a Key Vote Alert on The Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act, strongly urging senators to vote “Yes” to advance and finalize the bill. Stand With Crypto will score how the Senate votes as part of its voter education and advocacy efforts, and the results will be incorporated into the organization’s lawmaker scorecards so that every voter can understand where elected officials stand on crypto priorities.Â
“Every day that the CLARITY Act sits unfinished, millions of American crypto owners and developers are left without the protections, new opportunities, and clear guidelines they deserve. This bill delivers on all fronts," said Mason Lynaugh, executive director of Stand With Crypto. “If the Senate fails to act on this legislation, they risk pushing investment, talent, and technological leadership overseas to other countries. America’s crypto community urges lawmakers to act swiftly to enact common-sense rules of the road for crypto. These engaged, mobilized voters are watching to see where their lawmakers stand."
According to recent polling from Stand With Crypto, nearly 80% of crypto owners describe themselves as “almost certain” to vote in the midterms. These voters rely on Stand With Crypto's scorecards to understand their lawmakers’ crypto stances and make informed decisions at the polls.Â
In recent months, Stand With Crypto has mobilized its network of 3 million advocates across all 50 states to push for progress on the CLARITY Act:
- Stand With Crypto advocates have now called or emailed their members of Congress in support of market structure legislation more than 950,000 times. This year alone, Stand With Crypto advocates have come to Washington, D.C. for dozens of meetings with Senate offices and have hosted hundreds of events in communities across the country.
- Last month, Stand With Crypto — in collaboration with the Blockchain Association, Crypto Council for Innovation, and the Digital Chamber — delivered a coalition letter with signatures from more than 200 industry groups, associations, startups and entrepreneurs, and grassroots communities to Senate Majority Leader Thune and Minority Leader Schumer, urging them to bring the CLARITY Act swiftly to the floor for a final vote.
- Also last month, Stand With Crypto brought 20 advocates — including chapter presidents, founders, and developers from more than a dozen states — to Capitol Hill for meetings and distributed a new CLARITY zine illustrating the national crypto community that is counting on Congress to act.Â
- In just three days, Stand With Crypto’s petition calling on the Senate Banking Committee to set a date for markup generated nearly 30,000 signatures from advocates in all 50 states. Stand With Crypto advocates hand-delivered copies of this petition to the Capitol Hill offices of all Senate Banking Committee members.Â
Lynaugh recently joined Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-MD) for a fireside chat, hosted by the Maryland Blockchain Association, about the future of digital asset policy. He spoke about Stand With Crypto advocates' sustained push for market structure legislation and urged the Senate to match that momentum and move the CLARITY Act across the finish line. Senator Alsobrooks voiced her appreciation for this kind of grassroots engagement, noting that "lawmakers respond to their constituents" and that this "ground-up approach" is what moves policy forward.
