Stand With Crypto: Senate’s Failure to Advance CLARITY Act Leaves Millions of Americans in Limbo
Following failed cloture vote, crypto advocates nationwide warn that inaction has consequences
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Stand With Crypto — America’s leading crypto advocacy organization — expressed disappointment with the Senate’s failure to advance the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act, landmark market structure legislation that would have created a regulatory framework for digital assets. Following the Senate’s failed cloture vote, Stand With Crypto sent a clear message that millions of American crypto users, developers, and voters are running out of patience.
Following the vote, Mason Lynaugh, executive director of Stand With Crypto, issued the following statement:
“Today’s vote was a failure of leadership. 67 million crypto-owning Americans have waited years for the basic clarity needed to use, build, and invest in digital assets safely. Today, the Senate chose to keep them waiting. Every day without action is a day that American innovation, jobs, and investments continue to be shipped overseas.
“The CLARITY Act remains the top policy priority for our three million grassroots advocates nationwide who we will keep mobilizing until this gets done. These voters previously helped to elect the most pro-crypto Congress in our nation’s history, and they are paying attention to how their elected officials have been supporting the crypto community.
“As we gear up for the midterms, Stand With Crypto has endorsed a slate of incumbent candidates in the House of Representatives who embody the pro-crypto officials we need in office. The results of today’s vote make it clear which officials are with our community, and which are against us — and we’ll make sure our advocates are ready to cast their ballots accordingly in this and future elections.”
Stand With Crypto scored senators’ votes on the CLARITY Act cloture vote and will incorporate them into lawmakers’ scorecards, so that every voter can understand where elected officials stand on crypto priorities.
