Stand With Crypto Issues Key Vote Alert Ahead of Senate Cloture Vote on CLARITY Act
Over three million crypto advocates urge senators to vote “Yes” to advance the bill, building on more than a year of grassroots activation.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Stand With Crypto — America’s leading crypto advocacy organization — issued a Key Vote Alert on the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act, urging senators in both parties to vote “Yes” on the cloture motion scheduled for September 15 and to swiftly advance the bill to final passage. Stand With Crypto will score senators’ votes on cloture and final passage and will reflect them in the lawmaker scorecards on its Voter Hub, so every voter can see where their elected officials stand on the community’s top policy priority.
“This vote is about the 67 million Americans who own digital assets and deserve to have in place rules that protect them and that give them the confidence to take part in our nation’s growing crypto economy,” said Mason Lynaugh, Executive Director of Stand With Crypto. “Stand With Crypto’s more than 3 million advocates have consistently called, shown up, and organized in all 50 states — all with the message to their lawmakers that they must support this legislation. We’ve finally arrived at a critical moment for the CLARITY Act, and senators know where their constituents stand. Now, it’s their turn to act.”
The cloture vote comes after more than a year of organizing by Stand With Crypto advocates:
- Advocates have contacted their members of Congress in support of the CLARITY Act more than one million times. This year alone, Stand With Crypto advocates have come to Washington, D.C. for dozens of meetings with Senate offices and have hosted hundreds of events in communities across the country.
- Stand With Crypto’s On The Block tour connected local founders, small-business owners, and community and economic voices with lawmakers in Cincinnati, OH; Des Moines, IA; Kalamazoo, MI.; Nyack, NY; Toledo, OH; the Bronx, NY; and Elizabeth City, NC, with more stops in the coming weeks. Each stop was a chance to show how digital assets and blockchain technology can open new opportunities and strengthen local economies, and why clear, common-sense rules will help get there.
- State chapter leaders made the same case in their own communities and on the op-ed pages of papers in Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, Iowa, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and West Virginia.
- Stand With Crypto — in collaboration with the Blockchain Association, Crypto Council for Innovation, and the Digital Chamber — delivered a coalition letter with signatures from more than 200 industry groups, associations, startups and entrepreneurs, and grassroots communities to Senate Majority Leader Thune and Minority Leader Schumer, urging them to bring the CLARITY Act swiftly to the floor for a final vote.
- In just three days, Stand With Crypto’s petition calling on the Senate Banking Committee to set a date for markup generated nearly 30,000 signatures from advocates in all 50 states. Stand With Crypto advocates hand-delivered copies of this petition to the Capitol Hill offices of all Senate Banking Committee members.
Stand With Crypto has built a community-led movement to mobilize and harness the voice of America’s 67 million crypto owners into a powerful and unified voting bloc, championing clear, common-sense regulations for the crypto industry and unlocking crypto’s innovation potential while fostering greater economic opportunity and freedom.
