From @FIT to @NFT_NYC, some lessons travel with you. @reneeleibler, Professor William Reinisch and Sam Whitaker/@FabriqLabs helped shape how I think about entrepreneurship, Web3, art, design and emerging technology.
This impromptu interview brought that journey full circle.
Earlier this month, while volunteering at NFT.NYC, I was pulled into an unexpected conversation about Web3, NFTs, art, design and innovation.
In the video, I reference a professor at FIT who had a lasting impact on how I think about this space. @reneeleibler, I didn’t mention you by name, but I was talking about you.
Renee had the foresight to understand where this technology was going and bring those concepts into the classroom. Professor William Reinisch, Chair of FIT’s Entrepreneurship Department, created an environment where students could explore entrepreneurship beyond theory. And Sam Whitaker and @FabriqLabs helped take it one step further, creating an NFT competition that challenged FIT students to actually apply what we were learning.
I was one of those students.
A professor introduces an idea. A department creates the space to explore it. An industry partner creates an opportunity to apply it. And a student carries it forward.
That is what education can do.
And it’s one of the many reasons I love @FIT, a New York institution that makes extraordinary education and opportunity accessible to so many New Yorkers.
To the students sitting in those classrooms today, you never know where what you’re learning will take you.
Thank you to @NFT_NYC for creating a place where artists, designers, technologists and entrepreneurs can come together and exchange ideas, and to @CryptoLiveLeak_ for stopping me for an unexpected conversation and capturing this one.
Sometimes the most meaningful conversations are the ones you never planned to have.
And those lessons have traveled with me, all the way to the ballot as an Independent candidate for Congress in New York’s 7th Congressional District.
