2025 GUBERNATORIAL PRIMARY FORECAST

With Crypto on the Ballot, New Jersey Voters Expected to Turn out Tomorrow in Support of Pro-Crypto Candidates

June 10, 2025

TRENTON, N.J. — With early voting trends indicating a record-high level of interest in this year’s gubernatorial race, New Jersey’s primary election tomorrow could result in higher voter turnout than in other recent primaries – and there’s one critical voting bloc that could decide the outcome: Crypto voters. According to recent voter research from Stand With Crypto, New Jersey voters want to make their state a leader in the crypto industry. More than two-thirds of Stand With Crypto members (63%) in the state say they’re more likely to vote for a pro-crypto candidate in this election.

Stand With Crypto issued the following statement on the eve of New Jersey’s 2025 gubernatorial primary election:

“New Jersey is home to nearly 65,000 Stand With Crypto advocates who are committed to electing a candidate with a pro-crypto vision. When considering that the margin of victory in the last governor's race was only 80,000 votes, these voters could be the make-or-break for the next governor come November.

“New Jersey has always been a hub for innovation, and cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and digital assets represent the next frontier. New Jersey can lead, but as crypto voters know, the window is closing fast as other states race ahead.

“The crypto industry has created thousands of jobs nationwide, from software development to compliance, marketing to customer service. Here in New Jersey — with our educated workforce and strategic location — we are poised to be at the forefront of this movement, fostering innovation and strengthening our economy.

“As primary election day approaches, New Jersey’s gubernatorial candidates would be wise to embrace a pro-crypto platform prioritizing innovation, economic prosperity, and financial freedom. Not just because it’s a ballot box winner, but because it’s a boon to New Jersey’s future potential.”

New Jersey Crypto Voters Expected to Make a Strong Showing

Stand With Crypto has been working to mobilize crypto voters across the state, hosting a "get out the vote" rally in Jersey City last week — featuring appearances from candidates vying for the governorship including Jersey City Mayor Steven M. Fulop, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05), and former businessman and radio host Bill Spadea — serving as the lead sponsor of the primary debates last month, and harnessing its infrastructure across the Garden State to drive voters to the polls come Tuesday.

These efforts come on the heels of data released by the Stand With Crypto Alliance (SWC) (from an Impact Research survey of SWC advocates) that found voters will prioritize the crypto policy positions of candidates in the 2025 New Jersey gubernatorial race. With more than 65,000 crypto advocates across the state, the data’s findings included:

  • Nearly two-thirds of Stand With Crypto members (63%) say they’d be more likely to vote for a pro-crypto candidate in the gubernatorial election, including 70% of voters under 35 and 62% of swing voters.
  • More than half of these voters see crypto as a factor in determining their vote – 21% say it will be a major factor and 30% say it will be a minor factor, while one-in-five (17%) rate crypto as a dealbreaker for them.
  • Seven-in-ten (70%) voters say they’ll research candidates’ stances on cryptocurrency policy ahead of the election, and three-in-four (76%) of voters say they’re almost certain to vote in November’s general election.
  • Two-in-three (64%) members say they would be more likely to vote for a pro-crypto candidate that supports regulations to protect consumers and prevent fraud, and wants to make New Jersey a leader in the crypto industry.
  • Sixty-four percent (64%) of members, including 77% of Democrats, 62% of Republicans, and 59% of Independents, would be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports regulations to prevent fraud and protect consumers in the crypto space.
  • An equal 64%, including 52% of Democrats, 72% of Republicans, and 61% of Independents, say they’d be more likely to vote for a candidate who supports policies to make New Jersey a leader in the crypto industry.
  • Almost half (45%) of Stand With Crypto members identify as Independents and are persuadable in the race for governor.
  • A plurality of SWC members self-ID as Independent with the remaining having a GOP-edge (17% Democrat / 35% Republican / 43% Independent), and they pick a Republican candidate on the generic ballot for governor by 26 points (27% Democratic candidate / 53% Republican candidate / 17% undecided).
  • However, despite this GOP lean, nearly half of members (45%) are persuadable in the gubernatorial race – either undecided or say they could change their vote between a generic Democrat and Republican.
