Stand With Crypto Statement on New Jersey Gubernatorial Primary Election Results

June 11, 2025

TRENTON, N.J. — Today’s gubernatorial primary election drove voters statewide to the polls, including many of the state’s nearly 65,000 crypto advocates who are poised to play a critical role in choosing the next governor of New Jersey. While it’s too soon to draw conclusions on voting trends in today’s primary, recent voter research from Stand With Crypto indicates New Jersey voters want to make their state a leader in the crypto industry, and more than two-thirds of Stand With Crypto members (63%) in the state said they would be more likely to vote for a pro-crypto candidate in this election.

Carlos Ivan Merino — President of Stand With Crypto New Jersey — released the following statement in reaction to the outcome the New Jersey gubernatorial primary election:

“Stand With Crypto congratulates Republican nominee Jack Ciattarelli and Democratic nominee U.S. Representative Mikie Sherrill on their victories in New Jersey’s gubernatorial primary. We look forward to working with both candidates over the coming months to ensure they will prioritize policies that secure New Jersey’s – and America’s – future in the blockchain economy.

“New Jersey has long been a hub for innovation, and is poised to lead our nation in cryptocurrency, blockchain technology, and digital assets. Stand With Crypto’s 65,000 advocates in the Garden State are committed to electing a governor with a pro-crypto vision, and both nominees should embrace a platform that champions innovation, economic prosperity, and financial freedom — not just because it’s a ballot box winner, but because it’s a boon to New Jersey’s future potential.”

In the leadup to the primary, Stand With Crypto worked to mobilize voters across the state, hosting a "get out the vote" rally in Jersey City last week — featuring appearances from candidates vying for the governorship including Jersey City Mayor Steven M. Fulop, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05), and former businessman and radio host Bill Spadea — serving as the lead sponsor of the primary debates last month, and harnessing its infrastructure across the Garden State to drive voters to the polls.

New Jersey is home to nearly 65,000 Stand With Crypto advocates — a population that skews younger, more engaged, and more open-minded than the average voter. That’s tens of thousands of voters vying for a candidate with a pro-crypto vision. When considering that the margin of victory in the last governor's race was slightly more than 80,000 votes, these voters could be the make-or-break for the next governor come election day.

Over the past two years, Stand With Crypto has built a grassroots movement to mobilize and harness the voice of America’s 52 million crypto owners into a powerful and unified voting bloc, championing clear, common-sense regulations for the crypto industry and unlocking crypto’s innovation potential while fostering greater economic opportunity and freedom.
