Stand With Crypto Congratulates Mikie Sherrill on Winning New Jersey Governor’s Race

Nov 4, 2025

TRENTON, NJ — Today’s gubernatorial election in New Jersey drove voters statewide to the polls, including many of the state’s more than 80,000 crypto advocates who played a crucial role in helping Governor-elect Mike Sherrill to win the race. As voter research from Stand With Crypto indicates, New Jersey voters want to make their state a leader in the crypto industry, and more than two-thirds of Stand With Crypto members (63%) in the state said they would be more likely to vote for a pro-crypto candidate in this election.

Carlos Iván Merino — President of Stand With Crypto New Jersey — released the following statement in reaction to the outcome the New Jersey gubernatorial election:

“On behalf of New Jersey’s more than 80,000 crypto advocates, we congratulate Mikie Sherrill on her victory in becoming the 57th Governor of the Garden State. In Congress, Governor-elect Sherill has been an advocate for pro-crypto policies, including the CLARITY Act, which would establish the clear regulatory framework crypto developers need to continue innovating safely. Over the next four years, we look forward to her continued leadership – and partnership – supporting New Jersey’s growing digital economy and ensuring every person in our state can safely benefit from the opportunities created by blockchain technology.”

While it’s too soon to draw conclusions on voting trends in this election, polling from Stand With Crypto following the gubernatorial primary earlier this year showed New Jersey’s more than 80,000 Stand With Crypto advocates played a significant role in Sherrill’s victory and represented a pivotal part of her coalition.

In the primary election, 39% of Democratic voters who reported casting their ballots for Mikie Sherrill were late-deciders, making up their minds a week or less before the election. 54% of those late-deciders said they were more likely to vote for a candidate who supports pro-crypto policies, and 65% said that each candidate’s position on cryptocurrency influenced their vote choice.

Crypto voters continue to play a pivotal role in electing pro-crypto officials across the country. CNN reported that crypto voters made up 10% of the electorate in the 2024 presidential election and broke +24% for Donald Trump. A September 2024 Harris X / Consensys poll further highlighted crypto voters’ influence, finding that voters are +13 more likely to consider voting outside of their own party for a candidate who supports their preferred crypto policies and that crypto owners are a full +58 pts more likely to switch to a candidate in the opposing party if they adopt their preferred crypto stances.

Over the past two years, Stand With Crypto has built a grassroots movement to mobilize and harness the voice of America’s 52 million crypto owners into a powerful and unified voting bloc, championing clear, common-sense regulations for the crypto industry and unlocking crypto’s innovation potential while fostering greater economic opportunity and freedom. With more than 2.6 million crypto advocates registered nationwide, Stand With Crypto is on track to establish state chapters in all 50 states by the end of this year.
